Program 03

Bone Marrow–Immune Axis

Testing whether CFTR dysfunction can imprint hematopoietic and stromal programs that sustain inflammation.

Immune programming

Could chronic disease begin upstream of the airway?

This program examines the possibility that CFTR dysfunction shapes hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and their stromal niche, biasing myelopoiesis toward inflammatory responses that are later expressed in peripheral tissues.

Working hypothesis

A durable inflammatory bias may be encoded in the bone-marrow–immune axis rather than arising only from the local airway environment.
